Get your students to speak, let them make mistakes, help them map out the language, and don't buy this book!

Honestly, I could not sell this book back fast enough. The one semi-redeeming quality about it is the colloquial expressions contained in each chapter, with notations when they are from Canadian French. Even then, many outdated expressions are included, and little to no context is provided to help learners not only remember the expression, but allow them to be able to use them appropriately. I was also not impressed with the quality of the DVD, or the videos available from the publisher online. Not only were they not authentic materials (i.e. created by a native speaker for other native speakers), each time we attempted to use the videos, they froze and we were unable to fully view them. Thankfully we seldom used the activities outlined in the book, as they reminded me of the boring activities found in my high school French books. Although some teachers may find it easier to plan their lessons with the aid of a textbook, my experience with this book has only further cemented my belief that conversation is probably best taught without relying solely on a textbook. This book is intermediate at best.

Great Book !

I loved this book, it took an informal approach to learning French. Students can be able to learn how to structure conversations using this book. Unfortunately this book is more for intermediate French speakers and not beginners.

Great book for learning French

we used it in my french conversation class and I think it's a great set up for a book. It has a lot of french expressions and pronunciation points as well as useful vocabulary.
